'Empire' is based on Romanesque buildings, spanning through churches, towers and castles. I am drawn to Ancient Rome stained glass, which were usually made from pieces of coloured glass. This painting is inspired by how natural light would have hit through the stained glass to create beautiful colours and cast shadows.
